TU Series Manifold Tuning....

  1. #1
I came across a little website on tuning and they had a sort of guide on how to tune a standard TU exhaust manifold... (i know its easier to get a 4-2-1 ect ect but im short on cash and motivated to squeze a little more power out of it)

anyway, ive got mine off, and theres a chunk of metal in it (see pic) which i want to remove, does anyone know the best way to get it out without making a mess of it?

    said pic...

    Cheers!

WHY? thats there for a reason!. It seperates the exhaust gases which helps the flow upto the downpipe. Save your time and while its off look out for a second hand 4-2-1 manifold

    It wasnt suzukituning was it?
    Horseradish.

Leave it in, itll make next to no difference, if anything itll make it worse.

As above, save up and get a cheap 4 branch, theyre pennies second hand.

Fair enough, ill take your words for it!

    What manifold will fit over a standard oil cooler on a 8v? a mk1 4-1 or a standard mk2 4-2-1??

i dont want to buy one for it to not fit.

    I may have a mk2 4-1 raceland for sale but I won't post.

as said leave it in place

alot of cheap pattern down pipes have this part missing (have done since the ax and 205 gti days), i broke down miles from home and needed to get it fixed asap on my 309gti and all i could get was one with out the divider in it.

the low down torque dropped right off, as that divider basicaly makes the exhaust in to a rather crude and not very well worked 4-2-1 system.

Yeah i see what you mean! what about the ports or the whole ths for that matter, would it benefit from a quick polish?

your wont gain anything from doing it unless its mega coked up but it wont do any harm.
