CV joint

    anyone had a problem with their CV joints sounding like a knackered wheel bearing, i have had my bearing changed twice an it still does it but i know the joint is a bit worn

    any help will be great

    Hi ye just fit some 15 inch wheels and when I took the standard wheels off there was grease all over inside of the alloy had it fixed but now other side cv boot has split now every time I go over a pot hole feels like wheel is going to come off

    Check ball joints - it might be actually be coming off!

    i changed the boot bout 2 month ago cause it was split, the joint has started to click round corners but not sure if its givin me this rotational noise lol

    The cv joint may have been too far gone when you changed the boot,to test the cv joints have the car stationery & go from full lock 1 side to full lock the other side,you`ll hear a noise once described to me as like a creaky floorboard.

    you might as well just put a new shaft in as there only £36 new

    Once after a nifty drive, i pulled over and my car was p*ssing grease down the drivers side alloy and i was like brilliant and feared for my drive shaft's life lol. But turned out the jubilee clip holding on the gaitor-y bit for the joint had just snapped off and hence the grease spilling out everywhere (Also didnt help that the grease used wasnt the best grease but thats another story)

    Quick fix for me luckily, buy another jub clip, regrease.. sorted

    i got a mate on the case lookin for a pair of shafts, they wont be gettin changed till next month as im on holiday next month and am a bit short of cash

    You had your bearing changed twice you say...

    There are two types of bearings and two types of shafts, Tapered and rounded. Make sure your shafts match your bearings.

    i checked mate, it has one changed and bout a week later cause i found out the driveflange was bent

    so had to change the bearing again

    bad times if i was you get them shafts when u got the cash sometimes its just worth it and you no its done then

    mate it could be worse mine need to new suspension top mounts what arived in the post today new piston in the caliper and a got a gearbox leak

    christ, in the last 12 months mine has had
    *new rear axle
    *front brake pads
    *timing belt
    *2 tires
    * 2 wheel bearings
    * new drive flange
    * cv boots
    * susp arm
    an im still not done
