    hi guy's,
need a bit of help please, been asked by a mate if i can test his vts ecu on my car for him or vice versa (can't really remember what)as it ain't running to well, but i haven't got a clue on where to start and i'm a bit reluctant to try this just incase i lock my own ecu up as well as his.could someone please explain the best way to do this please.

how is it not running well?

well its not idling to well, keeps dropping to 500 revs then sorts it self, sometimes cuts out.when coming to a stop quite quick especially in 3rd gear it will drop revs to about 500 again the bounce right up to about 1500 revs or sometimes cuts out.

he has replaced all the sensors mention about these problems, fully serviced it,new coilpack.he has even put a different engine in it and it still bloody doing it.so we thought only thing left is either fuel pump(tried)didn't work, lambda sensor(tried)didn't work.so only thing left is the ecu.

    anymore suggestions we could try?????????.

IIRC to unlcock ecu start car and unplug the immobilizer box then turn off engine. As the ecu has not received a signal to re lock itself it should work in your mates car.

    cool,cheers mate.
how would i go about putting mine back on my car so i can still use my immobiliser or will it not lock off as it is already programmed to my car.

When you refit it (obviously with battery disconnected) and then restart the car with the immobilizer box re installed it will recognise your key then when you switch off it will re lock itself
