You may have a current drain from somewhere like the alternator.(didn`t leave your lights or amp on?)

I had this problem in my last car. I'm not that mechanically minded but I know it could be a few things. Either it could be the alternator like said above, a faulty alternator would cause the problem and won't charge the battery. Also a faulty starter motor won't turn the engine over, and if seized, it can sound like a dead battery.

You can go to a local parts garage and they can test the battery for you - usually for free. They'll test the power output to see if the battery is working (but in your situation with two different batteries, this will probably be okay), and they can test the power capacity to see if it's being charged or holding its charge (could point to the alternator).

My best bet would be to take it to a garage to test the alternator, and if that's okay, possibly look into a problem with a starter motor.

    Hope this helps!

All of them. LOL! Nah it was a faulty starter motor, but the fact that the fan belt was loose and the glow plugs were old didn't help either. I ended up scrapping the car due to so many problems and a rotten chassis

Was surprising how much the starter motor turning over slow and eventually not at all sounded like a flat battery!
