Idle problems.

   Hi there, recently bought my mk1 VTR last month and it has a slight idle problem.
   
   Most of the time it idles around 1000rpm, but occasionally i can be sat in traffic and it will rise to 1500 or sometimes 2000rpm. sometimes it comes straight back down and others it sits there for a while.
   
   I get the feeling it's the idle control valve sticking, but i've never worked on french cars before so does anybody have any other ideas?

   probably idle control valve spray sum carb cleener onit see if macks eney difrence

   yer be ur ideal control valve ,, its ment to put the rew up when things like the fan kick in or you put the stereo on ,, if you get a new on make sure you get one with same part number as whats already in you car mate

   ICV, clean it with Carb Cleaner, then WD40 the connections and you'll be fine

   does it happen when ur fan kicks in to cool the engine? id say its your temp sensor if its when the engine is getting hot while sitting in traffic

   cheers guys, looks like ICV will be my first port of call then.
   
   that's an interesting one on the fan, i have no idea. i'll check it out next time.
