Will a '98 phase 1 Expose OSF door fit an '01 phase 2 Desire?

    Hi guys,

Apologies in advance for the essay!

Veeeerrrryyyy long story but basically some twat crashed into my Saxo about a month ago and wrote it off. All he did was dent the driver's door (all still works - electric windows and central locking etc. just it's warped and fugly) and (not obviously) damaged the trailing edge of the wing. I bought it back and after about 2 weeks of total pain in the arse hassle and the MOT and VIC and all that bollocks the most annoying thing is that it's still not bloody fixed!

I have searched high and low ever since for a driver's door and have got bloody nowhere.

However, my question is, on the contrary, today I found what could be a potential replacement door. It is from an 98/S mark 1 1.1 Expose. It's a 5 door (mine's a 5 door) and in the same colour (EKQD, Wicked Red) as mine. However, mine is a 2001/Y mark 2 Desire. Will it fit? Also how likely is it that the Wicked Red paint job will vary between cars? As in would it have faded that much compared to mine - the Wicked Red paint job seems to be fairly durable to me?

Anyone know a lot about all the variants?

This is my nearside undamaged door (just imagine it flipped round, obviously):

To me the mark 1 Expose and mark 2 Desire are very similar (excluding mechanical changes) minus a few front end body panels and a few (still extra) features. There were a few differences but as long as the door itself fits and is the right colour (and same paint condition) and spec' the rest should be easy.

Hope I can get some pointers guys.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Michael.

doors are the same between mk1 and mk2, obviously 5 door and 3 doors differ between each other but provided both cars are 5 door in your case it'll be fine, although as for colours i'd be careful as there are different shades of wicked red as well as a colour which is similar to wicked red but is slightly pinker

Thanks for the speedy reply mandyslover70,

I thought so but just wanted to check. I did pick up some bits of trim from it (for the OS wing mirror and OS indicator repeater surround trim) and they were an exact match, so I assume the metal paintwork would also be the correct shade? Just I clearly don't want, after all the hassle and time wasting, to replace it with something that looks like it's a replacement.

It is only 3 years older but is there any chance of 'pink' fading?

    Michael.

PS: Do I have to change my status from 'L-plater' to get rights to a sig and display pic? It's just I whipped up a really cool Saxo logo design thing in Photoshop in 10 minutes

    Ok, thought so.

Any more advice on the door front. I'm hopefully gonna go back there today and ask for a quote and stuff.

Maybe take a picture or two. Can't believe I cant find the right door anywhere else... although the 5 door is rare compared to the 3 door!
