i'm a bit of a newb to all this, but im trying to learn....

i have a 1.4 furio (mk2) and am wondering what modifications can be done to gain more performance without killing my insurance?

    ignore that ^^^^^

panel filter+cold air feed to airbox plus full exhaust and manifold. depends what age you are as to how much extra the insurance will be, but shouldn't be that much. no point going further with the 1.4 imo as you get into vtr/s conversion cost territory

Yeah as Sean said, you can do the basic things like filter, exhaust and manifold, but if you can afford it you would be better off just getting aVT* engine put in.

do K&N make good panel filters? and how does a cold air feed work?

    google.com

and dont get k&n for power, its mostly for noise
if u want and expensive air filter that might give u some power then get a BMC CDA..

whilst on the topic of engine transplants how much are they to fit (at a garage) ? cheers

that depends where you go bud!

theres a place near me that said he would fit one for 200 quid if i gave him the engine and all the parts, but he seemed a bit dodgy!

but another place said 780 for it, so there is a big difference!

if you are concidering it, ask to see some of there work be4 you go though with it, just so you dont get some cowboys!
