Whirring noise that disappears when clutch pedal is pressed down

Hi folks, still looking for a VTS to buy and came across a nice example, however it suffers the same whirring noise as the one I saw before it which is a whirring noise at idle that disappears when the clutch is pressed. I've done a bit of reading on here and the general consensus is the clutch release bearing or clutch, as the seller mentioned on both occasions.

But in theory, the clutch release bearing doesn't even spin until you press the clutch pedal? Therefore, it should be a spigot bearing in the gearbox?

Can anyone advise as to what is causing the issue?

    TIA
    Steve
