Rotational grinding (my car sounds like a plane)

Well for around 6 months my car has constantly been making a rotational grating noise. No clicking around corners or anything but it grates when slightly turning left or right. Like a cccccchhhhhhhhhhhhh, but also does it when the wheel is straight just not as loud.

However, I don't mean a little noise - its stupidly loud. I mean my car is stripped, cage, buckets and stuff but I have to wear ear plugs on any journey and when a passenger is in the car, you can't even hear them shouting! My car seems to have turned in a jet engine plane (it does actually sound like your on a plane).

Any ideas? Is the gearbox fooked or is it driveshafts? The shafts look in good condition - I'm going to replace the wheel bearings next week however there is no play at all in them.

Yeah I'll take one when I leave work. Probably won't be able to hear it very well but all I can say is its loud! You know that vvvvvvvv vvvvvvvvv vvvvvvvvv sound you get on a plane, its identical to that!

Nothing has broke, no whines or anything but I think it may be the bearings in the gearbox but I'm unsure.

I guess for a drive shaft.... Mine did this. It was caused by a defective boot on the wheel side cv joint. All the grease had been throwed out and was runnning dry.
Try taking the boot off and have a look at the grease.... pack it up with new fresh grease to see if it helps....
