Important! : fuel pump not priming slight update

  1. #1
right as some of you may know i've recent removed the engine out of my 2001 furio.

anyway got it all built back up and in the car went to start it and no sound from pump (used to hear a like moaning sound lol) and the imobliser key light is flashing,

anyway the ecu was never unpluged fom the loom but for obvious reasons the battery was off for a long time.

not i do belive i've reconnected everything correctly (would a wrongly place sensor plug cause this?)

the engine turns over just no noise from the pump. the car was a good runner before i took the engine out,

any help would be really really apreciated

sounds like ur ecu is locked, strange tho if it wasnt disconected
  3. #3
thats what i were thinking hope it's not.

does that big red relay thing under the ecu bracket have anything to do with it?
  4. #4
the tachometric relay? its worth a try i dont think it would cause the imob light to come on tho
  5. #5
ah ok cool. can't understand why it's locked unless i've put a sensor on the wrong plug
  6. #6
Sounds like the ecu is locked mate, the relay under the ecu is for the fuel pump.

any reason as to why it locked itself and anyway to unlock it ?
  8. #8
found the little black box for what i assume is the imobliser. i unplugged it and turned ignition on and the little light didn't come up on display but the pump still didn't prime would anyone say that it is locked ? and would a normal diagnostics machine (we have launch at work) unlock it or is it a specialist thing and can anyone recomend someone?

    many thanks

To unlock it ,it needs to be sent away there`s a guy on here who does that charges £60.00-£65.00(roughly)I think ecu`s locking up is an car anti theft measure not 100% sure though.

ok thanks mate i found a link to a chap who used to unlock them hopefully he still does lol so sent a pm.

if i knew it were gong to do this i would have disconnected it would have made my life easier. lol

would have welding the car have caused it to lock itself?
its the only thing i've done that could have caused it :@

Wouldn`t have thought welding would have caused the ecu to lock, unless heat/electrical spike has damaged it in some way.

tiedit today still nothing so deicided to see if i got spark and nothing so it defo sounds like the ecu has locked itself doesn't it?
  13. #13
if you have no spark and still no fuel pump its likely its locked
  14. #14
Does your car have the fuel cut-off switch? have you plugged that cut-off plug back in?

As that stops the fuel pump priming, plus your ecu is weird, i took my S engine out, left the ecu plugged in and then put it back in then it was fine

Sure you've tightened up all earth/negative leads ? as i'm sure that'll cause the ECU light to flash aswell

neve unplugged the cut off (i don't think lol) to what i can see there are 3 earths. 1 black 1 green and yellow and a big black one (gearbox) i've used the bolts from the starter for the small black and green and yellow to earth through the box.

Ive got the same problem with a vtr at the moment. Ive also messaged the chap who unlocks the ecu, but havnt heard anything back.

same here mate even tho he has been on tonight :/

found out today for some reason the oil warning lamp doesn't light up even if the sensor is unplugged and the handbrake warning light is always lit eurgh i have electronics lol
