Oil SPraying out of dipstick tube

    Hello there

I have an issue with my vtr (1998) For some strange reason oil is spraying up out of the dipstick tube and all over the rocker cover and under side of the bonnet. No i have tried a few things to remedy this which are

    1. Bought new rocker cover and applied gasket sealant to make sure of a good fit, at first i wasnt sure whether it was coming from the rocker cover or dipstick.
    2. Fitted a breather filter as it is running an induction kit (rocker breather), i was running a length of pipe down to the back of the engine.

Neither of these have solved the problem although the new rocker gasket has lessened it, it must have been leaking too.

I thought to myself that this is a breathing problem but unless there is a crankcase breather (which i cant see) which may be blocked i can only assume this is a more serious problem.

Car runs great apart from this no overheathing or excessive oil usage.

    Thanks for reading

Have you tried replacing the dipstick? If its all cracked and knackered it wont make a seal and it will spray out of the top.

Excess crank case pressure caused by either blow by (worn rings/bores) or blocked/innadequate bretaher system. Check that filter you put on is clean and the breatehr pipes are not blocked or kinked.

i take it there is a crankcase breather pipe? and it all doesnt just breather through the rocker? It was a new filter that i put on the rocker cover.

Dipstick looks in ok condition but may try a new one

Yes there is a crankcase breather it should go from the rocker cover to the induction kit.Have you checked the oil level as too much oil in the engine will cause it piss out.

Got to the bottom of this guys, i bought a new dipstick and noticed that mine was missing a piece that seals to the dipstick tube, no more oil spraying or oil fumes in the cabin.
