missfiring

Hi all, I've got an 02 plate vtr and its missfiring but not a constant miss, it seems to be random and sometimes quite harshly. Also when stopped at traffic lights yesterday it started spluttering and cut out although it normally idles ok.

just wondered if anyone has had the same problem or any idea what could be causing it, I'm thinking it could be something like an air leak as it isn't at a particular time every cycle?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks for reading

Does it misfire when it`s hot or cold?Sometimes when a saxo gets hot & the coil pack is near death that`s what can happen.

To be honest I'm not sure but I can't recall it doing it straight after a cold start

Didn't wanna start a new thread so sorry to bump a mega old one but. My '53 VTR is doing exactly the same, it's totally random and sometime it's lust a little shudder other times I literally have to take my foot of the gas and dip the clutch to stop it. I've replaced the spark plugs and coil pack with no joy .. ideas? :/

Try a compression test then go from there,as said it could be an air leak(vacuum pipe)

Map sensor did it for me

Which is the map sensor? Cause there's some thing bolted to the top of my coil pack that seems to be in bits. But neither my dad or I had any idea what it was.

the thing bolted to the coilpack is just something to do with radio signal nothing to do with how the engine runs, map sensor is bolted onto the inlet manifold usually an oblong shape with a connector on the end.
