sound proofing car

   i am swapping my carpet and rooflining for a black set just for cosmetics and i was thinking while they were both stripped out i was going to try and cover the floor and roof with sound proofing e.g. dynamat or something similar
   
   has anyone ever tried this?
   
   and looking at dynamat in the size i need im looking at at least £150 where as there are some cheaper items on ebay but not sure on the quality
   
   can anyone recommend something

   On caraudiodirect.com you'll find a 40sq ft pack of sound deadening for around £100 iirc, check it out.
   
   That amount will do 1 layer of roof, floor, doors, boot, under rear seats, rear quarters.

   stuff i got was off ebay 7mm thick and comes in 15 square foot packages quite good stuff and does the job but isnt a brand or anything. there is a noticable differance but havent had time to do roof and rear quaters yet

   7mm thick is massive!
   
   Dynamite / second skin etc is about 2mm thick.

   ive dynomated loads of saxos over the years mainly for big ice builds........be aware it adds some amount of weight to the car lol works very well tho

   We used to do it on the cheap by using a tub of bitumen LOL. Same idea.

   agreed this stuff is actually really good. worth forking out for it, and much cheaper than dynamat for the amount you get
