front brakes seizing on

  1. #1
Hi everyone just looking for some help/information about a problem I'm having with the brakes on my saxo.

Basically every time I go out in the car, after driving for about 5 or 6 miles, the front brakes gradually stick more and more (the car starts to struggle in 4th gear, then 3rd gear, and so on - eventually it will only drive in 1st gear because they stick on so much). The wheels get roasting hot and the brake pedal doesn't depress at all (once they've stuck on).

I don't really know a lot about cars, but I've had it to a few garages including kwik fit to check the brakes an nobody seems to know what the problem is. I've had new disks, pads, shoes, the flexy hoses have been replaced, the master cylinder has been changed and I really dont know where to go from here. EVERY time I take it to a garage the thing works fine, which is typical. Anyone have any ideas? or has anyone had this problem?

    thanks in advance,

    sean

have you had the calipers changed? ake you brakes aparts and behind the piston on the caliper spray some wd40 and push it back and CAREFULLY get someone to push the brake pedal untill it comes out half way

do that a few time may free them off alittle.

it might be the hoses mate,

thanks for your answers, the callipers always seem to be releasing okay, its something else thats sticking on. and I have already replaced the hoses.
I've had it to a couple more garages and again, nobody seems to know what could be causing it. obviously not a common problem?

as said above try lubing up the pistons, my front right caliper on my vtr doesnt quite release all the way, it sort of scratches on the disk, no where near as bad as yours tho i can still drive normaly, but thats all mine needs, it did it a few months ago and i oiled it up and it was fine untill now, its obviously dried up again.

the sliders that the calipers mount on can sieze up on 1.1s causing problems like this, down to corrosion between the steel slider and aluminium caliper
