dipped headlight problems

hi all, the other day i had to change one of my rear brake lights. when i took the bulb out i noticed that it didn't appear to be blown. i decided to change the bulb anyway, but when i changed it i have noticed that everytime i press the foot brake the dipped lights come on, when i then release the brake they go off. so every time i now drive the car and brake the sidelights flash.

can anyone help me with this?

Was there any corrosion on/around the bulb holder when you changed the bulb, its possible this would transmit current to side lights when you use brake, if there is it will need to be cleaned off or replaced

no there was no corrosion around or on any of the contacts, the bulb holder is like brand new. i cant seem to think what could be causing it, as it appears to be a short of some sort in my opinion?

Did you fit the correct type of bub? IIRC the brake lights/side lights is a dual filament one?

Also if its the correct bulb try cleaning the conections & refiting it!

this is common from a dodgy ground, trace the loom back to the ground for the back light cluster i believe its under the black boot trip, that may be loose or corroded, undo it and give it a good clean up
