Airbag Light (Cant Think What Else To Try) ??

  1. #1
Airbag light has been on constant i have changed the connectors under the seat ' Replaced the clock spring & check all connections using a voltmeter and checked all connections leading back to the airbag ecu and still nothing.. We managed to get the light off for a short period by disconnecting the ecu and reconnecting but it came back on soon after that

Any thoughts guys? Im really stuck with this?

    Cheers

    Take the bulb out!

get some one to put comp on it might be able to reset it that way
  4. #4
most people just take the bulb out, or put some black tape over it

Covering the bulb doesnt solve the problem though.

I know a few folk say the chances the airbag will even go off is small but i would still rather take that chance lol

Gonna have another go today and see what else i can find

Try a 2nd hand airbag ecu.

get a airbag resset tool to erase the crash data, maybe the airbag light will not be on. I think I would like to recommend you Lexia-3.

Noticed sometimes when i start the car the light will go off and stay off as long as im stationery but as soon as i set off the light appears ?

    Any ideas?

Sounds like the pretensioners under the seats are loose.

To be honest i've been in.. three crashes in saxos.

One at 30mph side impact (write off)
One at 30/40mph into a brickwall (write off)
One at high motorway speeds into a deer on the motorway (defo write off)

In three different saxos, all without any airbag warning lights..

Not once did the Airbag go off, and thats without any warning lights.

To be honest, a saxo doesn't seem like the ideal car for yourself.

Its not about the type a car it is. I would just rather take that chance even how small it is... When i was at the scrappys about 5 weeks back thier was a 1.1 saxo much older than my car sitting smashed and the airbag had went on that and also on a 106 both in the yard. So they can go off.

And aren't airbag lights gonna become an MOT fail from new rules next year ?

Might just hunt the electrical tape out.... Save the cash cause it could be endless

Double check your wires. I had the same problem with mine. Fiddled with both orange wires under both seats. All in good condiditon. Unplugged/reattatched etc. Worked for now.

Airbag warning light from next year is a fail I believe.

I need to look into mine

If you've fiddled with the wires etc, what else would anyone recommend?

I asked an MOT tester and he says he knows not of this at present
it was discussed but he hasnt seen anything from VOSA on it

as for airbag going off in accident in the last 3 years I have broken well over 250 Saxo's most of them front damage I can count on one hand the number of them thad had the airbag go off and some where quite hard aswell

A while back someone on here posted a link to the site the MOT testers use & it was in a list of changes.

+1, any light on the dash will be a fail.

I would probably just remove the bulb if all else fails

mine comes on and off all the time the way i get it to go away for a few days is to disconnect it under the seat and re connected and then bend the wires abit then it normally stays off for a few days lol and i can say to that ive only ever seen like 5-10 air bags that had previously went off in a saxo that probs from around 10 different scrap yards with a average of 15-25 saxos/106's in each
