emissions mot fail

car failed its mot on emissions yesterday and the garage said that they would change the cat to make it pass , but before i forked out 131 pound my dad gave the car a quick blast down the motorway to try clean the engine out a bit but it still failed. So is there any other things i can do to try get the car through this?

a cheap shit cat doesn't last 2 years. Then it depends how you drive and if you do long or short trips, etc.. Once I had a cat fail on me, less than 6 months old.

that might explain it. A quick trash round the motorway wouldn't solve it. Should try some 98 ron in there (for the extra cleaning agents in there) plus doing at least 50 miles or more. I also bought some shit petrol from tescos once (EML came on straight away), it took 7-8 full tanks to clean it out. Maybe in your case try some redex too.

In the worst case, buying the cat and fitting it yourself will come to a lot less than £130
