2001 vts wont turn over to start

Hi everybody....newbie here in need of some advice....

I've had a look through a good few threads but cant find anything relating to this exact problem....if ive missed one im sorry...im blonde for a reason

Got myself into the citreon world two months ago with a wee 2001 vts to go to my work. Everything has been great until two days ago.....

Drove to work, everything was fine lights working and car started perfect.....10 hours later i jump in the car, turn the ignition on and nothing! All i get is a slight click when i turn the key which i think is coming from the passenger footwell area. All ignition lights are showing as normal. Starter isnt turning over, and no noise from the back re fuel pump kickin in.

I got green flag out today, checked the battery which is fine but couldnt get a reading from starter. He couldn't start it via jump leads.
He said he thought it might be something to do with immoboliser which would cover why no reading to starter and no fuel pump noise on turning the key {eventhough ignition is recognizing key in barrel and light goes out} but when he dropped the car off at home he decided to bump start it and immediatly it came to life no problem. He then said he thought it was less likely to be imob as it started via a bump and felt it may be a dodgy wire connection from my ignition to the starter, particularly due to me driving mostly on bumpy pot holed back roads to work.

What you think?? He says it could be a case of tracing my wire from ignition to starter making sure its all ok and secure.....easy enough job with a haynes and volt checker??? Or am i gonna have to bite the bullet and take it to a dealer The starter was never sluggish or making any unusual noises before so i think it itself is fine.

I have an intermitent engine management light coming on previous to this starting problem but i know this was for a dodgy oxygen sensor {either needs replaced/loose}. Would this have caused the issue??

Any advice or help is really appreciated

Was fine after he gave it a bump start? First thing, check the connections on the starter, if still nothing, bench test it.

yeah started no problem but when i switched it off then tried to start via key same original problem. It'll bump start no problem, just wont start via ignition. Sorry excuse my ignorance....bench test??

A bench test is where you drive it into a bench, and if it still works, then it passed.

solinoid on the starter will be knackered, probably need a new starter. take starter off and test it
