scraping/grinding noise

   Hi all, wondered if you could help. Have just bought a saxo 1.4 furio. Sometimes when I start the car it makes a scraping/grinding noise and the engine won't start, other times it starts fine without any problems. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks.x

   Probably the starter motor bendix, or the ring gear. not allowing the motor to engage and turn the engine

   will be starter motor, mine used to do it all the time, then got a new one and was fine

   yea most probably the starter solenoid as previouly said
