heater/blower fault?

  1. #1
Hi firstly.. sorry for coming on & making my first post a question

ive looked through the forum & threads but i've not noticed the answer i'm looking for.. ive checked the usual "ignition fault" etc but all seams good with the power feed to the blower switch & rear demister works fine.

i tried another blower switch but still nothing from the blower in any setting, is the blower an easy swap or have i maybe over looked another problem?

many thank's for any help & again.. sorry for my first post being a question

Hi thank's, i checked the fuses but to be honest it was at 6am this morning & i was half asleep, do you know what fuse is for the heater? i've not got a handbook for the car yet, i just bought the Saxo yesterday for my Dad to use

thanks again.. i'm guessing the fuse will be ok as it looks as though the fuse for the blower also does the rear demister & that's working, ive tried a circuit tester on the 4 wires on the rear of the switch and they seam to be OK?
one red is live then when the knob is turned i'm getting live feed running from the other 3 wire's.

is the actual blower easy to swap over? ive had a look and i can only see one bolt holding it to the bulk head side.

just been told by a mate that i probably need to change the blower part as the ceramic resistor is part of it & there common for burning out?

he say's easy enough job but a bit fiddly he think's the holding bolt's are next to the wiper motor, loosen them then from inside the car work from the passanger footwell and lower it out from under the dash

thanks again Stevo.. think i'll go to my local breakers tomorrow and work it out by removing one from a scrap car first

i bought the Saxo yesterday to give to my Dad, it's a 1.1 Forte model, 1 owner with only 41K miles it's got a few mths MOT on it, ice metallic blue, not one rust spot or dent & i paid a massive £600! for it. soon as i got it home i replaced disc's & pad's unseized the lock's, replaced a door mirror.. just to sort the blower, replace the sump gasket, tax it, fit a stereo & then hand over the key's to my Dad

how it looked when i got it yesterday

i was quite surprised with how the wee car drove, pull's very well for a 1.1i
