power steering

   Hi just a quick one if the power steering is not working would it cause the engine light to come on because i ahve just had my vtr and it was not on when i got it home but when i got back in the car it was on but i noticed that the power steering pipe was leaking and it was empty so would this case the propblem.

   No it wouldn`t mate,the engine light is as it says for problems with engine.

   thanks steve so would i ahve to get it on a diagnostics machine then or would it be ok as my mum has a pug and the light came on hers she took it to a garage and they said it was ok and its still on now and nothing has happend.

   Take it to a garage to be put on the computers to diagnose it man, most garages around where I live don't charge to just be diagnosed, not sure if it's the same for your area!

   Thanks i am going take it in today as there are some other bits that i want looking at as well.

   right need to know i have fixed my power steering pipe and filled it back up as there was nothing in it. But the steering dont seem as if has changed that much. Or are they all like this?. As when i had my celica the streeing on that i could turn with one finger but on the saxo it still feels a bit hard when turning.? Any advice would be great thanks.
