Noisey In Reverse

  1. #1
    Hi

My car seems very noisey in reverse, if reversing back, then depress the clutch so car is still in gear, but rolling back, sounds like cogs are whining or grinding?

    Anyone else get this?

Every Saxo owner on here I would imagine! The gears for reverse are straight cut, so will make a whining noise.

Thanks Jack, just what I wanted to hear, weather it was normal or not, if it is then fine, but as I bought the car from a garage 3 weeks ago, im going to get them to have a look.

They changed the clutch before I bought it, not sure if they did the realease bearing though as it can be jurkey pulling away.

Well took it back to the garage today and they said it would probably be the reverse bearing, they have made a note of it, and said it will be okay, if it goes bang, they will replace it.

From the sounds of it its a common thing being like that, I just wanted it checked as all of other cars have been silent in reverse.
