Plates from dubmeister....

  1. #1
    Hi
Just ordered some plates from dubmeister, sent my docu's
Worried now though, that he ain't in business?
    Anyone clarify?

Also, I feel pretty sure these are road legal, but fuzz magnets
I can cope with getting pulled over, as long as I'm not at fault!

    Any help would be great!

My mate received his from dubmeister like on tues. and they did take a while to arrive.
Keep the old plates in the car for when you get pulled the 1st time, see how that goes.

    Sound advice there!
Well dubmeister plates are apparently legal anyway so theoretically I should be safe!

they are legal! they have all the correct markings and are reflective. for piece of mind.

See my current plates have it, and so, with all this trend continuing, I thought why not

Love these - just worried they might attract unwanted attention - even if they are legal!!
  13. #13
Hopefully not for me, however I will do the 'spare in boot' tactic!

According to the DVLA the German style plates are legal as long as they meet all the requirements in that link. But, the standard in the UK is a plastic plate with "flat" lettering ie not raised, 3D writing isn't raised so is still legal, where as the German plates are pressed/raised. It would totally depend on the Police Officer who stops you, as the law isn't specific it, he can interprit it to suit him unfortunately.

One more thing, if you carry around your original plates in the car and get pulled, if you were to produce them, the Police /could/ take that as you knew the dub plates were illegal so you carried your originals to swap over.

I don't know if the Police will do this, but if you ring up the HQ for your area and enquire about the plates and the operator confirms that they are legal get them to log that to your plate and get a reference number, that way if you are stopped you can simply point the officer to the control room log.

    Be careful!

    Dave.

I had pressed plates from that site with the D on them but changed to GB ones and never had any problems. Was pulled a few times for other things and the plates never drew any attention.

A mate took his into a police station by me today and bluntly said are these road legal, 2 hours of the fuzz checking them over trying to show us why there not legal, They told us there is no reason as to why you should ever be pulled over for them or why you should be asked to change them for original ones as everything a number plate is required to have is on the pressed plates! (and a copper commented on how nice they made the car look

All you need is that in writing and you're sorted, otherwise you'll end up with a roadside ticket which will waste more time and money trying to get overturned than the ticket is worth. Not all cops will back down and agree.

Just bought a set of these but as I now have a private plate i have to wait for reg change to come back from DVLA,

I went onto dubmiesters website and found they have a pressed plate dealer local to me, so went straight up there to get them done, only had to take my log book and driving licence as proof, they ordered then online for me direct rom dumiester, on Thursday.

The bloke who ordered themfor me said up to 3 weeks for delivery, to my surprise the postie knocked on this morning with them in his hand.

Well happy, as they arrived fast and look the bollox.

Problem is I dont want to drill them, so anyone who has some how did you fix yours to the car????

I'm buying number plate surrounds that fit onto bumpers
A lot easier, fix them onto car and slot the plate in!

Where ya get ya surrounds from???

    EBAY!!! loads on there!

I had them on my old car, I got pulled a few times but just had to show them that they had all the stamps etc on them and they let me on my way.
  36. #36
get sticky foam pads, you can get from halfrauds for like 3quid and they hold up really well
plus no gash surround on it either then
  37. #37
Had enough people just tearing my plates off, I'd rather not have to do that with the pads, plus with heat they just melt and lose stick...
    From experience!
