C2 engine question

  1. #1
Was thinking about camming my C2 GT, however prices are too high to compensate ATM with moving to London next month etc!
Have heard rumours from numerous people that. The cams
From the j4 engine are 'wilder' than the ones in the jp4. So at the price of circa £30 for these cams would they be worth it? Obviously they wouldn't have as Much effect as ph3's. But for £30 could it be worth it?

Just looking for facts on here as c2club has very little replies to any thread! Lol.
    Cheers

changing cams should mean a change in the cambelt.. so not the £30 really.

Just save your cash for a proper set of cams and do it properly imo.

iirc the jp4 engines are 110bhp and the j4 is 120bhp, so yea by adding j4 cams just brings the car up to saxo vts power

but as said just do it properly when you have the money

jp4 in the C2 VTR and GT etc is 110bhp, in the C2 VTS its more. Don't think the C2 S cams are any wilder, think its down to inlet manifold design and managment. Also believe the valve springs start causing bother when S cams are fitted into C2s but not 100% sure. Theres a thread about it on C2 Owners but as OP says, they aren't much help on there lol

I'm currently going through fitting iTB's and cams to my JP4 engine. If your going to be changing the cams to the j4 ones, you might as well save just a little bit more and buy some JP4 spec Newmann PH3's. The springs within the JP4 head aren't as strong as those of the J4 engine so they would need to be changed, and like Mandslover70 said, even with VTS cams, the springs will suffer. Hope this helps mate
