    For those who have smoothed the dash board on there car;

    how smooth do you have to sand down the dash before applying the high build primer filler ?

    smooth to touch or just roughed up to spray

    You don't want it too smooth / shiny once painted otherwise the glare will be unbareable. Hence why they make it a rough surface from the factory!

    Idealy you just want to take the top off the texture using something like a 240 wet and dry paper. Any smoother and you runn the risk of changing the shape and furring the plastic.

    Then give it upto 4 coats of primer filler - guide coat it flat it down and see if it needs more.

    As said though the sun can be a problem but just wear shade's

    Oh and dont attempt it if you plan on using halfords primer filler will cost you a fortune and the filling it gives isnt enough to fill the texture.

    is the U pol high build primer filler any good for the job?

    Anything out of a aerosol nope it sinks after drying so looks textured after time.. But the u-pol 4 to 1 high build is excellent yes.

    Flat the dashboard down and try and get a local bodyshop to prime it. 2 pack primer is much thicker than what comes out of an aerosol.
