Important! : whats wrong?!

  1. #1
i left my lights on last night on my vtr by accident so the battery was dead this morning so i had to get the bus to work, anyways just got back for my lunch break and jump started the car and the engine management light came on and the engine wont rev past 3k? soon as it gets to 3k it dies down and lose all power:/
also the idle is very dodgy, keeps going upto 1k and dropping back down to 500 then back upto 1k then back down...

it was perfectly fine last night so what could of happened over night apart from the battery going flat?!

    cheers!

fully charge the battery. Run the car, sit in it, and keep her running for about 5-10 minutes. Switch engine off, restart, see what the crack is. Mine used to do that before I went standalone.

    Did that and no luck!:/

take battery off and leave it for 5 min then re connect. this worked with my honda civic. if not you could try another battery?
  5. #5
so is it actually something to do with the battery?
or can it be something more serious? but i dont see how it could be anything else since it just happened over night so yeah i'll try a new battery!

Unplug the battery and leave it off overnight, then plug it back in. ECU has entered Limp Mode, do not tell the garage this, they will rape your arse for stupid amounts of money and say you need a new ECU, when you don't.
  11. #11
i'll try that when i get my car back
    cheers for the help
  12. #12
ecu is in safe mode like dom said, try googling how to get it out of it i think it just does it itself when the problem is fixed which im guessing is the battery
  13. #13
right they just phones and said theyve bin working on it for 3 days ( which they have now ) and they cant seem to figure out whats wrong so im picking the car up in a couple of hours, once ive got it home what do you all suggest i do?
im gonna try disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours then reconnect it and see if that makes a difference, if not, what do i do next?

    cheers for the help!
