car will not start!

    i bought my car as a non runner. the guy says that it could be electrical but not sure or could be coil pack problem
    the engine turns but will not fire or try too.
    the timing belt is fine, and so are spark plugs and it seams that fuel is getting thru.
    i thought i smelled fuel in oil but now im not too sure. guy said it was his daily and then one morning out of blue it would not start and not sure why. engines done 79k.
    any ideas??

    oh if it could be coil pack, what should i pay for 1, or a second hand set? dont want to spend a great deal as i want to get a month or two driving this car to see what its like before my vts conversion.

    Do you get the immobilizer light flashing on the dash? If yes then then that is at fault otherwise it sounds like the coil pack.

    No immobiliser light so will check the coil pack the morn thanks

    If you`ve got fuel coming through then i`d change/check the crank sensor.

    +1 on crank sensor they seem to just randomly die and nobody thinks of them lol well i didnt

    try temp sensor to thats what was wrong with mine

    crank sensor or ecu , i had same prob mate
