thermostat ?

    hey people, does anyone know what temperature does the thermostat open and how far up my temperature gauge would it roughly open at? might be a weird question but having abit off heating trouble on car ,car seems to be abit pressurised well the hoses do once car has been started for abit, just wondered if thermostat can cause this ? thanks adam

    could be an air lock have you tried bleeding the rad?? mine norm comes in 3/4 way up the gauge but it took fuckin ages to sort it!

    yeah ive tried bleeding the the rad and the other lil screw nipple but i cant bleed it from the one on the thermostat as the nipple has snapped in but i bleeded it a week back when it wasnt snapped and hasnt really solved anything so onto the thermostat but i cant change that till i get a another thermostat housing as i wont be able to bleed the whole system proply im not sure if the rad pipes are ment to be quiete pressured or its the thermo stat sticking or not opening properly or maybe yeah an air lock which is being a pig to sort out or its something else ?

    Mines at 3/4 also.

    i had this problem and when i replaced thermo it was fine

    Leakin head gasket will cause it to pressurize.

    I might be wrong but on my vtr thermostat housing there is a 10 mm bolt you can undo which will let the air/coolant come out, as well as the bleeding nipple. see if yours got one. hope this helps.

    okies thanks pal il have alook tomo, just hoping it aint HG :'( ive checked all signs for HG ive still got hot heaters, car runs perfectly, no gunk in water or oil, aint losing water or oil, i know HG doesnt allways have them but im hoping mine aint as just about to put it up for sale and now dont wanna have to pay out alot of money to get that sorted

    meaning as in pressurised i dont mean if i take off rad cap it blows out or if i take the other nipples off it doesnt burst out, its doesnt really come out the nipples until i give it abit off throttle ? hoses aint solid but seem as to be abit harder then id thought ?

    ive got a slow leak from my nipple and could wonder if this could cause it to pressurise, ? (on thermostat housing)
