Why would you repair a new head gasket?

    was wondering the same Frevo!

u mean replace the head gasket, and yes its very expensive to repair as the labour is STUPID, the part is only like £30 or something

That isn't just the problem there should be more to that shouldn't there? I would think about selling for scraps and get a bigger engine car ie a furio if you are still young. Upto you but seems quite a lot of money to spend on a car that is a 1.1 engine.

    It's only a 2002 car. It's worth more than £500/600 so I wouldn't scrap it

Hi a friend of myn just fitted a head gasket to my saxo vtr done it in one day and only charged me £250 all in with the parts needed he has his own garage however it is in middlesbrough and may be more if the head requires skimming.

    why would it need skimming
  11. #11
its standard procedure to skim the head after a blown head gasket oil corrodes mate and if its been going for some time where the oil has been leaking from the head with a mixture of water then it starts to leave a unlevel surface of your cylinder head

could get a good engine for that amount !

can you explain in more detail just how you`ve "blown my engine up pretty much"?

£500 - £600 for head gasket replacement and skimming is slightly overpriced

parts would only be circa £150, couple hours labour @ say £50 per hour looking generously at £300 then however much for skimming(if needed)

that`s going on the assumption it`s just a head gasket failure.

very easy to replace one yourself
