people at work have been saying that i should fit a gearbox from a 1.1 saxo as it will give me better acceleration is this true? i currently have a vts gearbox fitted to my vtr done by the previous owner.
which gearbox?

#2I have one in my vts, it depends which 1.1 you buy though. They don't last long mind.
-
#3does it make much of a difference from when you ran your normal gearbox? aye a can imagine them not to with the extra power
-
#4They last fine as long as you understand what mechanical sympathy is. As kitney says, some have a short final drive, some have a long final drive. pot luck.
But given that you can pick them up for 20 quid or so, its worth a stab. -
#5keep the VTS box you have on it.
Unless you need a better final drive in which case 1.4 xsi.1 user thanked this post: -
#6also think about the cost involved in changing it, unless your going to change it your self which is a fuck on lol.
is it REALLY worth the effort...... -
#7True, The only reason i break boxes is becaue i rush them.Quote:They last fine as long as you understand what mechanical sympathy is. As kitney says, some have a short final drive, some have a long final drive. pot luck.

You'll need to find a very early box from a carb engined 1.1 for the shortest one. -
#8i ad a 20 cc 78 .... 1.1 out off a pug n it lasted a couple off years after being raged but top end was only about 115 ... 120

#9Stick with the VTS box, much stronger and pritty much similar to the 1.1
Failing that, get the 1.4 XSI box!!! -
#10what would be the difference between the vts and the xsi box?
-
#11stick with the vts one lol
-
#12i have had a think and am just going to stay with this vts box will come in handy if I pit a vts in it haha
