Fan and idle issue

    Bought a 2001 VTR on Sunday and I've noticed that when I turn the engine off, the fan cuts in a few seconds later and stays on for a few minutes, switches off then sometimes comes back on again. After a short trip it stays off, but a long one and it comes on. Coolant level is fine. Anything to worry about or normal? Gauge never goes more than 1mm past half way

    Other issue which I'm 90% sure is my idle control valve, is that every now and then when I stop my idle is very lumpy, going from 800-1000 then back again. Sometimes a small rev will fix it sometimes now. Take it the ICV just needs a clean?

    fan sounds normal, lumpy idle can be a few things its a bit of a nightmare tryna find out whats causing it sometimes but try the icv first

    Thanks, I've got a full service that I'm doing tomorrow (everything to do with engine is being done) then I'll see how fan goes. Want to change coolant and flush engine and fan just so I know it's good. Then I'll clean the ICV and throttle bodies just for peace of mind. If that doesn't cure idling issue I'll delve deeper.
