If you're painting with cans, it's harder to do. You get a better finish with a compressor & half decent gun. And some practice of course.

Reckon it would cost alot for where my arial was and around my door lock where i had to smooth it all out to get it done professionaly?

Its all about practice mate, at first i was pretty crap at it, you just have to learn to know how much to put on , and once its hardened cut back and polish any orange peel.

If you put too little paint on it will look dull and spattered, too much and youll get runs, spots in the lacquer and such, you need to spray it in even coats and make sure the part is perfectly smooth before even attempting to spray it. I also flat back primer once its dry...

With a bit of patience and effort I can get a better finish from cans than some bodyshops with a gun(not being bigheaded), but i did first start spraying about 2 years ago.

Depending on where you live then another sax-p member bedford126 might be able to spray it for you as he`s a pro.

colour coding is the hardst part, making it all fade in properly so u dont notice it as a touch up

This is not possible without a spray gun and compressor.

Aerosol paint is often acrylic or cellulose and both are shite for a good finish. Its also very soft and is easily dmaged.

your best bet is to spray a hell of alot of clear coat on it then sand with 1500-3000 wet nd dry pper then buff up with a polishing compound.

I deffo agree with the bit in bold, the only way i would recommend spraying with cans is if you are very careful with your car, otherwise the slightest of knocks will damage rattle can paintwork.

As you say though if you spray the clear coat thick enough just before it runs and do plenty of coats...then after leaving for a number of days until fully hard, you can ofte cut back with 3000 grit..then polish(I use loads of different polish....start with cutting compound, then cutting compound and water, then T-cut metallic, then T-cut metallic wet, then megs ultimate compound, then megs scratch x to remove all scratching from the flatting and compound/t-cut, then auto glym SRP once its totally smooth and no scratches remain to get a high gloss finish....it is a lot more effort but its worth it for a decent finish.
