Help for saxo_gray

  1. #1
In response to Gray being away with work today i've taken command of his saxo, need your help identifying this wiring plug that i found not attached to anything!!

His car has failed MOT on emissions and i was wondering if this may have played a part in its downfall. The plug in question is the one in middle of the three with red/pink and green/yellow wires

Its a mk1 1400cc westcoast by the way

He has replaced standard air box assembly with k & n filter, but there's no apparent wiring on original

    As always any help appreciated

failed on emissions. e.g 2nd fast idle? ect
  3. #3
Sorry yeah failed on both fast idles

    1st test

    fast idle 1 CO 0.992 (0.300 max)
    HC 226 (200 max)

    fast idle 2 CO 1.535
    HC 204

Garage recommended changing cat which has been done, however when it went back in earlier it still failed although readings were a bit better

    2nd test

    fast idle 1 CO 0.603

    fast idle 2 CO 0.851

Hydrocarbons passed this time on both idle tests

On the original airbox should there not be a sensor (air temperature sensor)for that plug to go into?
  5. #5
That's what i thought steve but having found the old airbox from back of shed there doesn't appear to be anything but i will be checking again

the k and n shouldnt effect it, as mine passed emisions with out a air temperature sensor plugged into anything, car also runs perfectly with out it and MPG is still on average.

Found the culprit, still running on original spark plugs lol, they were completely shot to bits

shoildnt that be plugged into the underside of the throttle body?

There is one plugged in already, from what i've seen on other various saxo's it would seem that there could be 2 types (at least) of intake housings so i wonder if it's a generic engine loom?
