what strength bolt will remove torsion?

Sorry for another stupid torsion bar post guys, im even doing my own head in with this shit..... Weve tried everything, hammers, socket and bolt method....the last time we tried socket and bolt the torsion actually moved a tiny bit but the bolts keep warping/bending, what is the strongest bolt available?

I used a high tensile bolt when I did mine, you might find they're warping because they're bottoming out (took me a few bolts to realise this) try slightly shorter bolts whilst someone hits the bar from the other end, hope this helps

seriously, just use a sledge hammer and a massive bar. it physically has to come out eventualy. i thought id never get mine out untill we used a bigger bar and a sledge hammer. dont fuck abot with socket and bolt. just smash it out.

dont wanna make you sound stupid or anything, but you have removed the offset washers havent you mate?

yeah just make sure you dont damage the splines. so a bar the same size as the torsion bar not including the splines if you know what i mean? and just abuse it. aha.

or use an old torsion bar, cut it down to size then smash the shit out of it with a sledge

how often do people have spare torsion bars laying around unless they do this sort of stuff regular or are a mechanic? aha.

the key is a nice heavy bar, we had a bar that was big, same size as torsion bar, but it was so light, so found an old iron bar, big heavy fucker, cut it down and after a couple of smacks with a sledge hammer they flew out.

    12.9 is what you want

either that or a titanium bolt!

well as most people have to change a rear beam at some point or other, as they are prone to wearing out they might have one lying around, im not a mechanic or do this sort of stuff on a regular basis and i have an old t/bar lying around.

haa, when i changed my rear beam the first time, i personely didnt bother stripping it down keeping the good bits etc, i was abit of a noob at the time.

the second time i didnt have to replace, i refurbed before it got to bad, as i gained some knowledge from joining sax-p
