Thoughts on my change of grille...

   Hi
   
   I have just replaced my MK1 "smiley" grille for the early '97-'98 grille. I can't decide which I prefer.
   
   Before you say, its only between these two, I dont want to mesh anything or change them.
   
   I kind of prefer the early grille at the mo, as it doesn't have the huge ugly black plastic in it.

   Smileys much better in my opinion mate contrasts better with the front bumper

   earlier grilles only look nice when they're smoothed off, then it looks alot neater (mostly the euro brigade!)

   thats a hard one. if you lower it then the early type, if you keep it unlowered then the smiley

   Tough but I'd say smiley for you as I know your going OEM+. I agree with above, the other grille for the euro brigade

   It's planning on being lowered 40mm, so on that basis, I might leave it with the early (as I've only just put it on) and then see if I like it more.
   
   
   
   The early one is growing on me, I like not having an ugly big piece of black plastic and HUGE chevrons!

   It's still OEM+ with the early grill, as its an original part, I might be mistaken but "T" was the changeover (???) to the smiley, so its not far off for age and style.

    i like the smiley, however as above the early one will look better when lowered.

    i think r reg saxos had that grill and s reg was the change over
    
    doesnt matter though, its still a standard grill if your going for a standard look

    Personally, I prefer the smiley grill. I also like the colour coded wing mirrors

    You could be right, mine is a T and i've got a smiley as standard.

    my mk1 was an S and was smiley, both are OEM so its up to you which you prefer, personally i like the smiley.

    cheers guys. I'm really torn now. I like the smiley and had it on since I got it, back last November, but also really like the early grill. Both OEM so fits with my plans. I cant decide..! I loved Beaniemoo's early grill where he cut out the badge and smoothed it, looked sheer class, but wouldn't want to change mine like that

    i have these decisions with every mod on my car lol just keep it on until you get bored of it/dislike it/grow off the idea.
