Passanger drive shaft

  1. #1
Right the thing is i have looked at my car today and i have changed the gear link arm as there was loads of play in the gears. But that is now sorted out. But when i had the passanger side wheel of my disc almost fell off in my hand as there is no screws holding it in place. Also there was a lot of play when i moved the wheel so i looked at the drive shaft and the big nut is not tightend up all the way but the mong who did it has bent the nut in so i cant tighten it up anymore. Also the cv boot is leeking. Is it just better to get a new drive shaft and do it propley or just a new nut and see if that works. any help would be really good thanks.

When you say bent the nut in are you sure its not just the metal ring around the nut, because it should have a little indentation on it(to stake the driveshaft)?

No i know what you mean you dent the nut in to stop it from going loose but thats not what they did it looks like they have just hit it with a big hammer and bent all the metal on the nut. Do saxo drive shafts have a split pin to stop the nut from going loose ?

No they don't use a split pin they use the outer bit of the nut being bent into the groove. And you don't need the screws holding the disk in place. If the drive shaft is not making any noise pack the boot with grease and fit a new clip. Then tighten the nut back up (£1.40 inc vat from Citroen) to the correct torque setting. No need for a driveshaft if there is no play in it.

if your wondering what the correct torque setting is for the nut, its 250nm
