VTS temp gauges looking hot

  1. #1
    Hi,

I've had my S about 2 weeks now and lately it's started running a bit hot according to the temp gauges. When I got the car it ran fine for about 5 days and then when I got a bit heavy footed it would get a bit warmer on both dials.. which is normal, right?

And now in the past few days it's been sitting at 3/4s on the gauges, just town stuff really, no real traffic but the odd set of lights and such.. And i've just been out in the car and the temp was over 3/4s and just below the red .

It's got plenty of water and the fan kicks in fine, perhaps a blockage in the rad or something? How would I go about fixing?

    Any help very much appreciated!

    Dale

EDIT: Just sat it in the drive for 4-5mins with the engine on and it got hot enough to turn the temp gauge light on. !

does it still blow out hot air through the vents?
could try bleeding the system, see if that helps

Actually Danny I noticed the other night that the heater was blowing pretty much cold air, with odd spits of warm. I've just been out to check, let the car warm up a little a drove it round the block and it's completely cold.

    What does this mean?

usually a sign of an air lock in the pipes if its blowing cold you need to bleed the coolant

+1 bleed the coolant & maybe use a radiator flush as well then refill with new antifreeze.
