Important! : Cutting out while Driving and Key light Flashing and will not start

   Cutting out while Driving then Key light Flashing and will not start?
   
   Pulled the battery off and it worked but few weeks later it happened again, its becoming more frequent, it losses power is-well then feel like its gonan cut out it end up it does and the key is flashing and will not start, anyone have any ideas?

   could be water's got in..bad earths etc...

   At a guess would say a faulty immobilser.

   thanks for the help, but why would the immobiliser light come on and not start again, really think would be earths etc

   Got diagnostic today there saying it the stepper motor? Anyone think this is whats up with it? As it cuts out with immobiliser showing the key light and not start

   Give your barrel a tap , it sounds like the pick up ring not getting a good signal with the key

   Have heard of the solder coming off the pick up ring in the past.

   How do I remove immobiliser? I'm just going to disconnect it see if it resolves issues then I can narrow it down, it's a 1.1 03 plate

   the immob unit is behind the glove box remove it with the car started otherwise u will get the same issue the major loss of power will be the ecu kicking the car into crawl home mode something it does when it detects an issue to try and minimise further damage i would deffo say its an immob issue normally to do with the ring round the ignition i had a similar problem i just swapped the ring for one i got from a scrappy they are universal all the do is relay the signal to the immob unit
   
   mine is a mk1 so it may be slightly different but
   
   if that doesnt solve the issue i would remove the tb and icv give them a good clean up make sure all seals are sealed and all contacts are clean

    I have exactly the same problem it cut out the other day. I found cranking the engine for around 20 secs worked as I heard the fuel pump prime tried to restart the car and the immobiliser light had gOne off and the car started first time! I'm going to try a new fuel pump and check wires to it.
