hi there guys,im wondering if someone could possibly help me out,ive got a noise on my saxo vtr mk2 the best way to describe it would be a washing machine noise except maybe more vigorously.ive had it for 5 months now and its getting on my nut.the faster i go the louder and faster the noise becomes and it kicks in pretty much straight away.ive had both driveshafts done both wheel bearings and a new strut, also i fitted a new wishbone,i would say its on the right but i cant be sure.there is no movement in the wheels. my brother reckons its from the dash but im not sure also it feels like you can feel it in the footwells.hope to hear from someone thanks again
noise please help

#2have you got a fish tank under the dash
-
#3Does it do it when you are stopped? Moving? stopped with the engine running?
-
#4haha nah mate no fish tank, basically does this when driving off maybe get to 10 miles an hour and it will start to kick in straight away and the faster you go the louder and faster the noise becomes, thanks
-
#5once driving its there all the time, until i slow right down then it stops, then once i accelerate again it literally comes straight back.thanks
-
#6And there is definitely no play in the wheels?
-
#7Had this on my last Saxo, turned out the be the thrust bearing in the clutch. Could also be alternator bearing? Had the whole clutch replaced in the end. Hope this helps

#8Just to add to what i said before. To check if it is the thrust bearing, put your foot under the clutch pedal and pull the pedal towards you (when idling
). If the noise stops then it is definately the thrust bearing. This is what the guy at the garage did to determine if it was that or not.

#9yup no play in the wheels atal, ill definately try that out dan tomoz, although it doesnt seem mechanical if im honest,is it easy to do the thrust bearing?thanks
-
#10now im a bit of a newb, but could it be your wheel arch linings being a bit loose?
-
#11Had mine done at the garage, had the whole clutch done and cost around £280 i think so not really cheap. Although i have heard its relatively easy to do yourself if you have the time and abit of knowledge!

Well other than the experience i had with mine i can't really think what else it could be mate!

#16Drivers side driveshaft intermediate bearing
-
#17hi guys thanks for your comments, would a duff intermediate bearing make a noise?do you know what signs to look for?thanks
-
#19anyone think this could be engine/gearbox related, ive tightened the gearbox mount today under the battery tray its seemed to of tightened the gearbox up a little as it was quite loose.but other than that im just spending money here there and everywhere and not getting any closer.thanks guys

#20lift up your car 1 wheel at a time.. and spin as fast as ya can. and stick your ear near it...
it also could be the main shaft bearing in the g-box.
some are replacable some arnt..
