New wheels rally style

  1. #1
Hi guys, just want some opinions on what i should get, currently im running on the standard vts alloys but want to get something a little better. My car is lowered around 40mm on bilstein group n's and im running with willwood 4 pot calipers so will need to work with them, anyways.

Im looking for either a set of 15 or 16 rally look wheels but am unsure of any other than oz supperturrismo/leggerer or the team dynamics.

what wheels shall i go for to give my saxo that rally look, my car is silver so a also not sure whether to go with black or white, if anyone wants to have a go at photoshop for me that would be great

    many thanks

    vince

Theyre not Turinis. theyre superL's. Dave did have a set of white turini's though.

I had a set on that saxo vince.

I didnt like them though, mainly due to dark colours looking awful on silver, and the fact i had 50profile tyres instead of 45s. I dislike multispokes anyway, sounds weird but you 'can see too much' behind the wheel. just my opinion of course.

    just FYI:

if youre after a set of superL's, you'll need spacers (preferably the OZ ones) and they cost around £250 - £350 second hand for the wheels alone (no tyres). They are rare and only weigh 4.9kg each.
TD 1.2s are the cheaper option of a similar look. should cost around £120 - £250 second hand. they weigh slightly more at 7.9kg iirc
TD 1's are the more desireable version of the 1.2s but are harder to get hold of and thus command a higher second hand value. lighter than the 1.2s at around 6.8kg.
speedline chrono's, speedline turinis, comp mo's are other examples of common 'track' wheels.

Your's look better in black Gaz. I made the mistake of going for anthracite.

I still dislike dark wheels on light coloured cars lol, but the black does undoubtedly look better on silver.

Similar to the Azevs going on mine but without the centre caps & my ones will be white.

i think they looked great when cleaned up, however they showed the dust etc very bad so i was forever cleaning them. I would think twice about getting gloss black wheels again, satin may be a better choice

edit: black on silver is overdone these days tbh

That was one reason i didnt go for black. I hate seeing cars that have dirty gloss black wheels, or even worse - clean gloss wheels but no tyre shine lol.

i didnt want to be one of those people!

I think i covered about 200 miles (if that) with the superL's on before the 50 profile tyres done my head in and i sold them.

will be splitting and painting the BBS on the bmw i think. cba to polish the lips every week

wow thanks for all the help on this one guys, i like the look of black but its done alot on silver saxo's so might go with some white oz's or sumin. still want that real rally look wheels so am unsure, but atm i am liking the look of those oz

    sumin like these sorts

if youre set on OZs... SuperLeggeras are far better than superTurismos.

    look better
    much lighter
    much rarer.

i made the mistake of buying new 50profiles too on some old vts wheels, they did about two miles and they are sat at home now as i took them off straight away for 45profiles

i got some mini wheels powdercoated in a chrome effect from a top guy, id reccomend it as the maintenance is far less than polished wheels, its not quite as shiny but impressive none the less

for the op i think for a silver car silver wheels are best tbh, im not a fan of bright colours, green, yellow etc

heres mine before i got the wheels powdercoated black

go for 15inch mate. You may have to wait a while to find some though mate as they are very rare, they arent cheap either especially if they are mint and come with genuine oz spacers.

edit, superlegeras and ultralegaras are pretty much the same wheel except the ultralageras are the newer ones with longest spokes that run all the way to the outer rim of the wheel, the spokes also have a slightly different shape from the side. looks a the 106 posted at the top of the thread compared to mine and you will see the difference mate

also the newer ultralegaras have carbon centre caps

yeaj just had a look and there is fuck all about lol, if i cant source any what would you suggest instead?? superturismos ???
  19. #19
    hold out for some superleggeras.

theyre only 4.9kg. superturismos are nearly 8kg ultraleggers are around 6.5kg too iirc.

if not i'd fo for the tried and tested team dynamic 1.2s. superturismos have no shape to them, the whole face is flat / boring imo.
