    Hi ,

My rear drivers side wheel is rubbing on the inner arch , Melting the Tyre

Take it my rear axle is knackered ?

It does sound like that may be the problem mate, do you have a large amount of play in the wheel when jacked up or some negative camber when on the ground?

Both those things , Is it new axle time then or is there a quick temp way to stop it rubbing on the arch , It only needs to last me another 6 months so dont really want to be spending a huge amount on it ?

Thought about wheel spacers but this might just make the camber worse and the rubbing , Or replacing the bushes if thats possible ?

If you have both those symptoms it sounds like a new axle is needed mate...how much play would you say you have...like say does the wheel move in and out how many cm/mm/inches?

TBH I would get it done asap as if its rubbing the inner arch it sounds like its got quite bad and will be quite dangerous to drive...especially at any great speed. You could source a second hand axle from the for sale section or a scrappy...but you never know how long it will last...especially if you're gonna lower it. But like you say if you only need it for 6 months it may be worth getting one of them rather than a full recon from IMaxles?

A bush kit could work as a temp measure or simply putting smaller wheels on, what profile wheel and tyers are you running at the moment?

If they are standard 14s I would reccomded a new axle, however if they are any bigger I would try running VTRs and see if that works.

Most axles on saxos have play when they are lowered, roughly how much are we talking here?

Well iv stopped driving it and trying to sort lifts out till its sorted , i wouldnt go as far as an inch but not much off. Yeah i think il try scrap yard to see how much it would be if theres any drum ones in.

There 15"'s on at the moment and have the 14" steel's i could try , You can rock the wheel when its on the ground near an inch either way id say.

Are the bush kits cheapish and ok to fit ?

It sounds from that it really is in need of changing mate.

If by bush kit you mean replacing the bearings yourself? I think if you've got that much play it will be past just replacing the bearings and will have started to wear away at the stub pins? You never know though...

    Could try this one:

I'm in no way an expert but I really doubt it, with that much play it sounds quite far gone to me, but you could always try it and see, either way your handling will be quite unpredictable I imagine. :/

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news mate, but its better being safe than it throwing you into a ditch round a corner.
