CV Boot

   Hi all, the previouse owner had a brand new CV boot fitted just before i bought my saxo in january. They had done half a job by putting the old clip on, which broke a few weeks back. I have put two cable ties on as a replacement as this is what some people do now days. The oppasite side is held on with thease no probs at all. Anyway, the Cv Boot has slipped off again leaving a mess all over the drive and anouther job to do. Do you know why this is as it was securley clipped in place before. Im guessing if the CV runs dry, it will need replacing?
   
   Any help will be appriciated!!

   If it runs dry it can damage the driveshaft.

   +1 If at any time you buy a new cv boot it`ll come with a metal clip.My suggestion to you is to buy a new cv boot pack it with grease & fit.Provided you`ve no noises from the joint on cornering etc you should be ok.

   Cool cheers peeps! its been to the MOT a few times very recently as it failed the first time, it was fine all the way there but on the last corner home there was a juddering noise whilst going in to a corner. This has only happend once when the boot started leaking because of the broken clip, so do ya recon if there is no more noise its ok to keep the old CV but pack it with grease and get a new clip?

   Yep & see how it goes,a tip with cars always replace the cheapest thing 1st then work through.

   use a jublee clip on the bigger end and don't forget to pack it with boot grease.
