Rev limit on conversion

  1. #1
My sax has had a 16v conversion but still has the vtr rev limit. Around 6200rpm?

It has a vts ecu IAW 48P2.80. What could be the problem?

Mines the same, find the answer and let me know.

Sure it's a VTS ecu mate?

IAW 48P2.80 is the code. Tried 3 ecu's. One ran fine but was in limp mode. (wish I kept onto it, sold it) One would hardly rev and the one I have on now isnt much better.

All 3plug VTS ecu's though. Does anything else control the rev limit?

Nope ECU set's the rev limiter, You totally sure it is a VTS ecu?

As that don't sound right, VTS ecu should be letting the car rev to 7250 rpm

if it was a VTS ECU it woul have the limiter at 7250 ish, when u did you conversion did u disconect the VTR FPR? i forgot conected everything up and it was boggy like in limp mode and wouldnt rev high

Not sure mate are they different? VTR and VTS?

What box? did you keep the VTR box with the VTR sensor's?

I read that someone put a VTS box on their R, and the rev's went to 7200..

Your's sound like its revving higher than 6k though?

Hmmm interesting. Hope its a VTS yeh. Will check codes

vtr fpr was removed as the vts return lines have been fitted. gearbox wont make any difference, vtr ecu is totally different and wouldnt fit a vts loom.

its got to be ecu otherwise you would have this prob with the other ecu's. your getting a different problem with each ecu. you need to try a know working one imo.

Ahh I see. ECU Ive got on was sent away and tested. Given the all clear. Tried another one, that was even worse. Think I should hunt another one again?

bumpp. Anyone got a ecu? ha

^^ I did post this in your wanted thread.
And its is now back with him.

The guy who sold me the last ECU seems to think this is a sort of limp mode because of other fault codes

In Limp mode you wouldn't be able to go past 4k IIRC

    very true ^

does it drive fine upto 6200?
    have you changed any sensors/bits?
  23. #23
Nope not at all ha. Have changed loads. See http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...00#post5529700

just seems strange that your getting a different fault with each ecu. if it was a sensor or wiring fault you should be getting the same code an each ecu, not a different one each time,

The ECU I bought from ecurepair was sent back. He said that my car had changed the map on it. He tried running it on his vts and the idle was shite and wouldnt rev.

He said hes fixed the problem and locked the map. So if this other ECU doesnt work I might get him to send it back and see if that makes a difference
