Handbrake problems VTR - Please Help

  1. #1
Im having problems with my handbrake on my VTR and need some help.

When i pull the lever there is absolutely no handbrake at all
I stripped the rear brakes and could see the cable moving at the caliper but it wasnt apllying the brake. Im not entirely sure how it works but the caliper piston wasnt moving one bit when the cable did.

Im just wondering if anybody has had this issue before or if you could suggest something that might be the problem. Many thanks.

It probably needs adjusting, the only problem is its underneath the exhaust heatshield, but if you loosen it so you can see the mechanism you should be able to adjust the nut until the handbrake works nicely

i would say the calipers are seized. pull the rubber cover back from around the pistion and squert wd40 in there. you know the rear caliper pistions twist back and not just squeeze? just try working in back and forward if its tight.

also make sure the caliper is sliding freely

    hope that helps
