help!!! REMOVING GEAR KNOB?

   any way to remove this without attacking with a hacksaw?
   i got my saxo 2months ago,got plans but this is a small bit thats really bugging me as its soooooo badly worn down.

   get one leg over, sit in the middle, put it in 4th and give that knob a good tug with your almighty strength. twisting your knob at the same time helps too. watch your head dont clout the roof when it finally lets go

   ok if not hacksaw a grinder no really its ether 2 was pull off or screw off i think it pulls off i know its not much help
