brakes ?

hi looking at upgrading my vtr brakes, and was looking at a 266mm upgrade was just wondering what cars these come off ? is a Peugeot 206 gti not the 180 model right or a 206 hdi right ?

also do the bolt on using the saxo caliper carriers or do you need the ones off the other car and do they bolt straight on no messing around ?

and also fitting braided brake lines do you buy the saxo ones or for the car you get brakes off

    thanks

Yeah the 206 GTI and HDI (1.6 onwards) have the 266mm front brakes, the pre 2001 models have lucas calipers and the later models have bosch calipers with thicker 22mm discs being needed.

The carriers from 247mm calipers can be used and have been used before with a slight mod I think but most 266mm caliper sets you find on ebay etc will come with carriers.....without the carrier it is in effect only half a caliper.

You can buy braided lines for a saxo and they will go into the upgraded calipers no problem as they are the same thread size.

    Hope this helped a bit

Just because the threads on the hoses ard the same doeset mean the hose is ok to use.
People have foumd with standerd length lines on larger disk/ calipers the line pulls tight at extrems of steering and suspension travel, this will eventualy lead to hose failure.
And if pickd up at mot time is a failure.

Yeah but most people who do the 266mm uprgrade use standard length hoses and have no problems. It's not like the bigger caliper is extremely different to the standard one......

I have standard rubber hoses on my 266mm setup and they are plenty long enough

Your car your brakes but you reaky dont want a hose failure.
When you can get hoses the correct length for £26.50 the pair deliverd is it worth the risk?

Just because when static the hose is fine doesnt mean that it is when your moveing.
