drivers side steering arm has slight bend?

  1. #1
my drivers side steering arm has a slight bend in it but the passenger side is straight, my vtr was lowered 50 mm before i got it so wonder if this was done to stop the pas pipe rubbing? Its more of a cruve than a bend and my car seems to pul and brake perfectly straight and im getting even tyre wear....the only problem is my wheels rub a bit on full lock...but this happens both sides so i think its just an effect of lowering....

Any ideas people...is it anything serious?

    Cheers

It could be a aftermarket part to stop it rubbing.

I remember gmax sold sold some a while back but most people just bend the Pas pipe.

Is there a way to tell? it looks pretty standard like not in a different colour or anything just curves a bit near where it comes through the side of the bay?

Would you say its fine to leave if i'm getting no problems other than a bit of rubbing on full lock?

That looks quite bad, don't it feel abit odd to steer etc? I would get that sorted maybe just swap it with another steering rack as it would be easier.

On a saxo i was breaking i had the same (on both sides). I was puzzled, hadnt seen it on any others. Even compared it with 5 other saxos that were nearby.

Had a dig through service history and saw a reciept saying "fit modified steering arm".

Steered fine and work just the same. I'm guessing its to avoid the pas pipe rubbing.

standard ones are hexagonal all the way along so i say non standard if it drives fine i wouldn't worry about it

Saxo singh....nope...steers absoulutely fine...pulls straight, brakes straight, and handles well, thats what I can't understand lol.

Paul, tom...ah i see....i'm gonna go check my receipts then lol, only thing is mine only has this on the drivers side.
