GEARBOX ! Sounds like a F****** CAT

    Right short an simple lol when i pull off or slow down through gears 1,2,3 there is a weird noise like 'meoooooowww' it is more noticeable in first so when now when approaching lights or pulling up to park i knock it into neutral . An the noise goes ! What could it be ,, comments please ,, also one of the ball joints (steel rods) one of the shorter ones needs replacing but i couldnt see that making this kinda noise :s:s:s:s HELLLLLP

    The box is fucked.

    Either the diff or the syncro's.. mine made this noise for about 2 months (harsh driving) and it finally gave up, so i had to crawl home in 3rd at a certain rev's..

    Change the box whenever you;ve got spare cash.. VTS box or 1.1 box FTW.

    Mine does that it's been doing it for a couple of months now! Been told not to worry too much unless it gets worse

    Mine, well, either the gearbox or wheel bearings are making a screaming noise with a bit of grinding.

    I'm replacing the bearings on Monday and if that's fixed it then I'm sorted, if not it'll be £50/£120 for another gearbox.

    Your not too far from mandyslover70 why not get a quote from to fit another box,or get his opinion.

    obviously there wasn't a cat hidden in the gearbox. Rule of thumb, when a car part makes an unusual noise, it generally is on its way out.

    Nice one for the comments you lot ,,, its in the garage friday so ill see wat my mechanic says ,,, probs be a new box soonish n e way cheers
