Re-spraying the rocker cover (Using filler?)

  1. #1
I'm going to take my rocker cover off and give it a good re-spray.

I have some surface rust (Which will be wired brush off and then sanded down) I have some quite bad pitting, can i sand this down then use filler to make it smooth?

Would the filler crack due to the heat?

    Thanks

I'm using high temp paint, it doesn't require primer it says

Use chemical metal to fill the pits it wont crack. Need to treat the rust too or it will come back.

You might aswell take it right back with 60grit to get rif of the pitting and work your way up the grits to about 800 or so, i wouldnt use any filler because i wont like the extreme heat.

given that a brand new cover from Citroen is £25 plus vat, thats a lot of effort to go to...

Could use high build primer, that should fill the gaps and provide a good finish

but like i say - £5 for primer, £5 for paint, £5 for lacquer. Add in sandpaper, and several hours of your time and effort, and you'll never get it as good as new.

Is it not worth £10 more to have a brand spanker from Citroen?
