metal shardes in crankcase

  1. #1
im doin an engine conversion (16v of course). had the engine sittn flat on the flywheel with the sump and head off. i was drilling the water pump out and completely forgot to cover the crankshaft area. yes i know facepalm.

now it has the tiny bits of metal up in round it.

so my question to you is how do i go about removing these bits. also picked up the head from getting skimmed and the engineer said he gave it a clean so he mustve used something liquid. and now just wondering what he used and how?

    any one got any suggestions?

    regards.

This might sound like a long winded way of doing it but strip it all down & blow out with an air line. When your doing any engine work cleanliness is essential.

A suppose an engine degreaser might work like Gunk.
